I've heard that the conditioner does do something to the colour.

I'm not sure that it's the henna/herbs that give the colour effect, if
any. aveda does this marketing thing that they're all natural and
stuff, but if you look at the ingredient list, there's also a lot of
other stuff in it. it could be that they use the same types of
synthetic colourants to affect hair colour that other 'colour reflex'
shampoos/conditioners use. not that that is necessarily a problem, but
their marketing is misleading - I felt a bit cheated when I checked
out the ingredient list after I got the shampoo. better to realize
that beforehand.
