fourth Henna tonight!Posted by Sherry on January 28, 2005 at 09:34:31: Well, here it goes, I'm doing my fourth henna tonight and I'd liketo share with you my experience so far. I have naturally curly, fine, reddish blonde hair that I've been trying to get darker red for several years. I found that commercial hair dye would fade out within a month so I'd have a washed out look for two more weeks before I could color my hair again. My hair was always dry and my attempts to grow it long have always ended at just above bra length because my hair would start breaking. I could go a week without washing my hair without any oiliness. I had colored my hair about a month before my first henna. I did a harvest test and it turned a lovely copper. I mixed with lemon juice and left it on for six hours. My hair was very red and bright, but it settled down to auburn after a few days. The next two henna's darkened my hair a little more so it's now firey in the sun and dark auburn indoors. My hair is a bit less curly, but I put it in rollers to control it anyway and I find it holds curl just as well. I also need to wash it every three or four days now because it actually gets oily now. The little scabs I was getting on my scalp are gone now. I also don't have nearly the split ends I usually do, so I'm hoping I'll be able to grow my hair long now. My only complaint is that after about three weeks, my roots coming in makes my hair look thin in front, I think because my natural color is closer to my scalp color. But I figured for $14(Cathrine's prices) I can henna my hair every two weeks. Besides, it gives me a good time to wax as well since I won't go out with green on my head. By the way, I make my own sugar wax. The recipe is on my website if anyone is interested. Besides, I am saving money on shampoo and conditioner since I don't need the expensive stuff now(I use VO5) to hide what the commercial dyes were doing to my hair. So all I have to say is, thanks Cathrine, for this informative site and your wonderful customer service and quality product.
