about grays and indigo?

talking to a girlfriend in Japan(husband is stationed there)she told
me that she does a three-step process to cover her nearly 100% gray
roots. she said she mixes just enough indigo with salt water, lets it
sit 15-20 minutes and puts it on roots only for 2 hours. then she
washes it out and does the total head henna for 4-6 hours and follows
by a total head indigo for another 90 minutes.
Catherine--does this sound feasible? I can never get the indigo
to 'stick' to my grays unless I do a henna first or combine the two
together. Just wondering what your thots on it might be and if anyone
has tried it this way. (My friend is supposed to be sending me a
picture...but she is the one who convinced me to dye my hair blue
when I was 17....I don't exactly trust her in these matters...)
