Henna for naturally red hair?Posted by Diane on March 7, 2004 at 07:49:54: Hello everyone,I am new here and totally new to the whole subject, but having just read practically every word on the website I can see I am in the right place for help! I have read about henna for various natural colours out there and how it reacts, but I haven't come across much about what it will do for a natural redhead. At 40 I am just beginning to get noticable greying and my main goal is to cover this without altering my own colour too much. I know that it can't lighten my own colour (good) but will it cover grey and have any effect at all on my natural red? I wouldn't mind seeing my colour deepened or even adding some warmer tones. The natural colour seems to be fading somewhat. My own colour is a deep true red (not strawberry, carrot, or either auburn) would anyone recommend adding any other ingredients to the henna to bring up other tones? Also, would it be such a bad thing to try one of the commercial pre- made mixes first? I am thinking for my first foray I might prefer something that would be temporary. "Just for Redheads" site offers something called "Avigal" claiming to be 100% pure henna in shades of red, strawberry and auburn...anybody know anything about these? Thanks to one and all who takes the time to respond, much appreciated.
