Amla and cassia comboPosted by Rainbow-Vanessa on February 2, 2005 at 15:48:34: Ok. So If I want to use Cassia obovata for conditioning, voloume andshine, and I want to use amla for waves only (no colour change), should use them together at one like in a 50/50 mix (or some other ratio), should I use them seperately one after the other with the amla first, or seperately with the Cassia first? I was under the impression that much like henna, cassia sort of smoothed and straigtened the hair shaft, lessening waves a little and helping with frizzies (always welcome). If this is the case, wouldn't the cassia sort of cancel out the amla's wave power? 2 more questions: Does cassia bond with the protein (keratin) molecules in hair like the Lawsone dye molecule in henna does? If not, how does it do all those lovely things? Does it "coat" the hair shaft? I know the science has something to do with tannin (not sure) levels or something for all "conditioning" plants. Can someone explain how this works? My other question is, waves are super, but would I get more frizziess than my fine hair already has if I used amla? I know it conditions in it's own right and makes the hair silky, so perhaps not, but thought I'd ask. Thanks for your collective red-crowned brain power!
