I posted this earlier but it got lost in the shuffle I suspect, so here's the question again: Does cassia obovata bond with the protein (keratin) molecules in hair similar to how the Lawsone dye molecule in henna does? If so, how, if it has no lawsone? And if not, how does it do all those lovely conditioning, strengthing, thickening things? Does it "coat" the hair shaft? Catherine mentioned the science has something to do with high tannin (or something else?) levels which all "hair conditioning" plants, like cassia obovata and others, have. Can someone explain how exactly this works at a molecular level? Thanks!
