My gray hair is a tad bit thicker and for some reason the new hairs i grow seem to be gray ones so there are alot of what I call 'baby hairs' in sparkling white coming in and they tend to stick out when I pull my hair back in a ponytail--looks like my white cat has been sleeping on my head. They are no where near what I would call coarse--but definitely thicker and wavier than my almost black ones. I considered them somewhat resistant to color. I use vinegar as the final rinse after I shampoo (and use conditioner only to detangle,) then if I am using it before a color job I rinse it with very warm water. If I am using it as a shiny rinse between color jobs I rinse it with very cold water. I have never tried amla--but as Catherine said I hear it does a great conditioning for hair and skin!
