Hair growing process:
a new hair grows fairly rapidly, and then the growth slows after a
while. Then it doesn't grow for a while, falls out, and is replaced
by a new hair. This process can take 5 or more years, as I recall (I
can go look it up if you like)

As long as you've got more, happy, healthy hair growing in, there
shouldn't be a problem.
