It made the mix much easier tohandle, but I don't know if had any extra conditioning effects. The first mix was very mudlike in consistency. The mix containing honey was not really much thicker, but easier to handle-more like very thick pudding. It held together much better. Incedentally, I used henna ordered from Catherine off the Henna for Hair site, and it still had to be washed a few times over the course of the week to soften up. I know it was first quality henna-so it could've been the lemon juice; or maybe it was still henna dust left over. It was only temporary in any case. It has been about 8 or 9 days since the henna, and my hair is now very soft and shiny. Carole : I'd try something other than red wine. My hair was drier than usual : after my first henna, too. Did anyone else have that result? : : I'm thinking it could be the alcohol in the wine. I'll try vinegar : next, and some honey in the mix.
