I'm stalling on answering your first question because I just don't know what would be in that box of hair color you have. At some point, I'll get all the boxes of "henna hair colors" I can find and start microscoping them and seeing what's actually in there. Not a whole lot of henna, as far as I saw last summer. I know if you try to bleach over recently hennaed hair, you get green to blue-green, which is probably not your intention. I don't know how long it would be before you could bleach. For bleaching generally, I recommend the old surfer trick of spraying and combing in lemon juice and sitting in the sun. The next big project I have to set up here is to set up a page where I ask people to send in hair harvested from their hairbrushes, with data on what they've done to their hair before, and then start systematically testing henna, etc, etc. Then, we might get a better notion of what's going on.
