Henna gloss treatment

Well, I picked up some (hopefully good quality) henna this morning and
did a henna gloss treatment. 1 tbsp henna, boiled up a teabag and a
chamomile teabag, various essential oils, and conditioner. I didn't
wait for dye release, add lemon juice or terp as I wasn't trying to
change the colour. It was on about 30 min.

It's nice, though I'm not sure it's made any difference, but at least
I know what to do next time, namely put it onto WET hair and use far
more conditioner than usual, not to mention turning the bathroom
heating on enough in advance to warm the room before I have to sit
there waiting. And I might be brave and try a bit more henna.

Is cassia italica another name for senna? It's quite nice now being
able to look at all the different coloured "hennas" and know what's in
them. Most of them looked ok, usually just being mixes of henna and
indigo for the red and brown shades. The blond one was cassia
italica, lawsonia inermis, something minor which I can't remember but
which made sense - and then a few artificial colourings. It also
said, bafflingly, "97% henne neutre, 3% henne naturel". This is why I
didn't risk it, although I suspect that what I will want in the end
will be senna with perhaps a touch of henna.

My hands smell lightly of henna, I'd forgotten what it was like.
Rather nice, actually.
