Does it also help to release the dye : in black walnut? : Thanks! : Jane I have the same exact concern. I wanted to deepen my red, and I just can't help but think that lemon juice is a natural lightener...in fact one of the girls on the "mixes" page ( I forget her name, sorry!) states that she stopped using lemon juice in her mix because it was producing an orangey tint that she didn't like. Jane have you been doing hairbrush tests? I have just ordered some henna and am waiting to start testing. I am definitely going to try with lemon, without and diluted to see if it makes any real difference. Also I can't help but think that switching to orange or even grapefruit wouldn't be as bleaching? Possibly no difference. I also want to try the red wine alternative just to see.
