The wonders of "polishing"Posted by Catherine Cartwright-Jones on March 23, 2004 at 17:05:36: In reply to: Re: Catherine, do you have a minute? posted by Diane on March 23, 2004 at 16:52:51: Its my belief that the male purveyors of henna assume the the femaleconsumers are too stupid to see green dye when its right in front of them, and to accept a lie about "green = fresh". Gmmmmmmmmmf Over here agribusiness seems to believe that we'll believe cucumbers with wax are tastier, farmed salmon is delicious with treated with red dye, and that tomatoes doused with ethylene to make them unnaturally red will be quickly purchased even though they have the flavor and texture of racquet balls. I've seen very little green dye outside of the Indian processors ... perhaps other countries aren't buying the lie. Don't even get this farm gurl started. It just marketing. I am a lecturer in a fashion school, so I am intimately acquainted with the wonders of marketing, and I have absolute contempt for such. Doesn't exactly endear me with the admin.
