This is what I do and I have a questionPosted by Jade on March 25, 2004 at 18:42:55: In reply to: Re: decisions posted by Alison on March 24, 2004 at 18:52:23: I am fair skinned and have also noticed my hair darkening a bit fromthe henna. Of course, when I used commerical dye it would go to a brassy color or even blonde which totally washed me out. My natural hair color is dark blonde and has darkened slowly as I've aged. I'm 35 no grey. The last time I hennaed I used about 2 tablespoons of paprika and 1 tablespoon of tumeric. I ended up with a lovely shade with a bit more red in it. Next time I henna, which may be tomorrow if I get myself organized I plan to double the amount of tumeric and paprika. I always prepare my henna with lemon juice. As for the smell, well, I think henna makes me smell like a barn (minus the poo) or a wet dog but that goes away. I saw some advice a while back on another website (www.tlhs.org)that I'm going to try. Some people were using apple cider vinegar as a rinse after washing but before conditioning and noticed a reddish tinge to their hair. SOme weren't happy with this so white vinegar was suggested. I'm going to try the apple cider vinegar rinse and see if that helps keep a more red shade after washings. I've also noticed that I lose some of the more vibrant red after about 2-3 washings. Does anyone have any advice on this one?
