There are some other shellfish species that will get you purple also if you've got the right bacteria to rot them properly. But .... even if you did have enough murexes, and the right bacteria ... if you did your hair with them you'd smell like rotting shellfish. Naaaaaaaaaaaaaaasty. Maybe a woad rinse over the henna ...... maybe not. Logwood's not gonna be useful ... I think you'd have to boil your head. The analine dyes ARE good for producing purples, I'll give them that.
