Long time lurker at the HennaPage here, I've been hanging silently around for about
the past two years and recognize quite a few of the names over there. I've never used
henna for body art and don't think I'll ever get around to it (a bit too unconventional
for someone in a managerial position...) but I am a longtime henna user for my hair.

Used to dabble in "regular" hair coloring when my hair was much shorter and I
changed color frequently, but had to stop since scalp started having all kinds of funny
reactions to it (probably the PPD and/or hydrogen peroxide and/or ammonia and/or
some of the other lovely chemicals in there...). Switched to henna around three years
ago, about the same time I started growing it out and haven't regretted it one bit.

Definitely messier than regular hair color - but infinitely better for my hair and scalp
plus a lovely color that looks natural. I'm a light to medium reddish brown naturally
and a deep red auburn/chestnut with henna on. Up until now I've only used locally
purchased henna but just got a shipment of Ahmad from EveryDay Henna that I will
try the next time around (quite soon as it's been about a month since my last henna).

It's quite funny to hear the "horror" scenarios painted out by my hair stylist on what
will happen with henna on my hair. She's convinced that it will dry it out, make it
brittle, that it contains metallic salts that will build up, will stop conditioning
treatments from working, will keep it from growing longer and just about anything
you'll hear from a regular stylist with respect to henna. I've tried to educate her, but
she just sort of shrugs it off. She is getting a little confused by now as she does have
to admit my hair is about the healthiest she has seen, softer than most and grows like
weed... :-D

I'm sure I'll hang around here to see what happens. For some pics of me and my lovely
