I have hennaed my hair for several years and yes, your hair will
deepen in colour over time. Just like many layers of laquer on wood
make it more and more beautiful and lusterous, many layers of henna
on hair will give you a rich and lusterous red.

Henna is absolutely fabulous for re-conditioning colour-damaged hair
I know this from first-hand experience as I have reclaimed my hair
from 2 years of extreme chemical abuse after multiple bleach and dye
jobs.

watch out! chemicaly dammaged hair soakes up henna more readily than
virgin hair does.
