I covered the bowl with cling film while I was : waiting for dye release, and also while the sample was cooking, this : time; that was the right thing to do, wasn't it? : : So there goes the tamarind idea. Any others? : : By the way, how old should henna be? I just noticed a date on the : bottom of the box. It's two years old and it's BBE date is this week. Your henna might just be expired. For acids that will give more red than orange tones, you might want to try red wine or red wine vinegar.
