henna over hair dye

I dyed my hair about a month ago and I want to put henna on it. My
objective is to grow out my dark brown hair...I thought henna might
be a good way to help ease out the growing out process (by evening
out the color) without being really permanent or causing chemical
damage.
ANYWAY, I still have hair dye in my hair, Garnier Fructis 100%
color. My Mom suggested going to someplace like Sally's Beauty
Supply, and buy a product that removes dye from your hair...before
applying the henna. Should I do that? Should I just henna it? Should
I do nothing?! OH HELP ME, HENNA EXPERTS!
