blueberries: how toPosted by kimberly(from BC) on May 20, 2004 at 01:15:00: In reply to: Blueberries? posted by Tara on May 19, 2004 at 14:55:13: Ok, since I suggested it, I'd better tell you how to do it.I've never done it myelf , but in theory this might work depending on the size of the dye molecules. First a little chemical info: Blueberries contain anthocyanins dye which is unstable in heat and unstable at high phs anthocyanins art natural antioxidants found in many foods :)Mordants are alum and cream of tarter. so to do your hair( do a strand test first with hair from your hairbrush): Don't cook the blueberries! 1-2 cups freash/frozen blueberries 3 teaspoons alum 2 teaspoons cream of tarter mix in the blender until it forms purple gook then aply to what you're tryin to dye and check at 1/2 hour intervals to see how it's working good luck! now I'm off to find some blueberries and see if it would actualy work.....:) I'm sorry if it doesn't work cheers! Kim
