So what is your "mix" - just pureed blueberries? Heated? How did you prepare them?

I am playing with 2 strands in straight indigo mixed with grape juice. I will check one
at 30 minutes and the other at 60 ... I don't really want it *dark* though

Have you thought about some of the natural dyes that need mordants, like woad? I
don't know how bad mordants would be for hair ... I was reading the list of other
natural pigments at EveryDayHenna, wondering what they might do, some say they're
in the burgundy / plum range ...
