It is probably easier for women whose hair is naturally black to stay
black, because the henna + indigo really covers after a few shots!

I've got about 20% gray and my mother's got about 80% gray. I've been
on henna for ages and the gray bends beautifully. My gray goes
copper/auburn depending on the quality of henna, the "weathering" and
whatever *ineffable life farce* is controlling the circumstance at the
moment (yes, I mean *farce*, this time I"m not sliding into my usual
dyslexia and horrifically incompetant spelling) (I was born in the
Ozarks when illiteracy was the norm)

We're starting hers soon after a lifetime of synthetic dyes. Looks as
though we'll hit a lusterous strawberry blonde.

When I look at women who have naturally gray hair, but who dye it the
color they think they had as children ... it sorta looks ..........
vile. Bizarre. Just like those tattooed eyebrows. When you gray, you
don't just gray, your skin color changes too.

Somehow gotta start looking at the whole package .... skin, body
shape, hair color, everything. Make it all work as a whole.

My mother was bitching that Vogue and all had a recently an issue of
"Sexy and Beautiful at 30", "Sexy and Beautiful at 40", and "Sexy and
Beautiful at 50" but she wanted to know if we were all just supposed
to shoot ourselves beyond that ............

Looks to me as though *beauty* could use some redefinition here.
Whatchall think? I am NOT interested in looking 20 again. I'm not
interested in being 20 again. Been there. Done that. Is there no
social script for a vibrant woman 55 and up? Is it because we're
loathesome old things that should be locked away, or is it just
because this didn't happen before and we should invent ourselves
rather than borrowing the script for beautiful freaks of nature that
are skinny, rich and 20? It makes much sense to me to try to have my
20 year old hair and my 20 year old figure as it does for Michael
Jackson to try to look white.

Am I making any sense here?
