I did use ground cloves in my mix just this week. 100g of henna to
two heaping tablespoons of ground cloves and 1 heaping spoonful of
cinnamon. it didn't exactly turn out brown - my hair is naturally
medium brown and it is still quite red, but I also used lemon juice
and cranberry juice in the mis. the cloves did not seem to irritate
my scalp at all. the smell still lingers so hope you can stand
that. personally, I really like that. good luck.
