The tannins wrap them selvesaround the fibrils of the keratin molecular strands and strengthen them. Lawsone enters the scales and penetrates into the hair and stains the keratin. I am not aware of any adverse reactions between cassia and synthetic hair dye. You can cassia, then henna with no problem that I am aware of. With repeated applications of cassia or henna, your hair does not continue to thicken, as would dipping a candle. It stays sleek and glossy. Cassia seems better at helping scalp infestations than henna. I would recommend lemon and sunshine to brighten blonde, and cassia once a month or so to silky up the texture. Cassia penetrates in 1/2 hour. You're not trying to build up color, so I wouldn't bother leaving it on longer. I don't know about using cassia with pectin. I think 200 g for fine hair would be plenty. That worked fine on my mother who had totally trashed out hair, upper back length.
