Yup, Manic Panic is safe with henna, but it does work best on
bleached or porous hair. I tried a bright pink on my hennaed hair
and it didn't show up too well, basically because my hair was too
dark and too sleek. Only when I bleached out a few strands did the
Manic Panic stay, but it tends to fade out pretty quick. If you're
going for a really dark red, it just might show over henna...only
way to know for sure is to do a strand test.
As for waiting for chemical dyes to fade out before hennaing - If
you're using pure body-quality henna, you could probably do it right
away. Wait! Don't run off now and do it - get a sample of the good
stuff from CCJ, collect some hair from your brush and go for it. It
seems that chemical dyes don't react as badly with pure henna, as
they do with those boxed monstrosities they sell in health food
stores.

: Hi all! I really hate how chemical dyes kill my hair, and am
: contemplating switching to Henna (after the obligatory "cool down"
: period). But I have a few questions. #1--Is Manic safe to use
with
: Henna? I know chemical dyes are not, but since Manic is natural I
: assume it's safe. #2--Would the Manic be effective this way,
since
: it is generally better on porous hair?
:
: I am looking for a REALLY RED color. Think--about halfway between
: old-school Tori Amos and Bozo the clown. Any experience/advice
would
: be much appreciated!
