I have used henna within 24hours of asynthetic dye, but many, many people warn against this so you MUST do a test on your hair, preferably hair not on your head. Also, I know indigo can do a good job of covering the red from henna and giving a brown-black color. However, I would personally warn against putting any henna in your hair if you do not like red tones. Henna dyes from yellow-orange-red-reddish brown, depending on the hair underneath. Yes, indigo is supposed to combine with this to give a brown-black color, but I think most people do still see a red tint in the sun, though I could be very wrong here. Perhaps some indigo users will give some good advice. But most importantly, test anything you plan to put in your hair on the hair from your hairbrush (or otherwise non-attached hair from your head.) Good luck! : My hair is dyed dark brown (my natural hair color is a very brassy : medium brown). I would like to stop using chemical dyes, as my hair : has become too porous to hold the color well and I no longer want : to "fight" the red in my hair). How long would I have to wait to use : henna? Must I wait until all of the color is grown out? : My ideal haircolor would be a deep mahogany or black cherry. : : Thanks! : : Nicole
