: Hi everyone,
: I just wanted to know if any of you have a good rule of thumb about a
: good henna/indigo ratio to get nice dark brown. Do I have to mix them
: and apply them at the same time, or do i need to do 2 processes?
: Does indigo behave the same way with previously chemically treated
: hair like body art quality henna does?
: Thanks!

I recently hennaed my med brown highlighted hair and it was too red
for me. I waited 5 days and did a 50 henna/50 indigo mix (all
Catherine's stuff) and it came out dark auburn on the browns and more
of a burgandy on the blond highlights.

I did some 100% indigo over some recently hennaed test strands and
they went dark brown almost all black (highlights and all) in about 20
minutes. It seemed quite potent on its own. I thought it was too
risky to try 100% indigo on my head.

Everyone's hair is different. Try test strands. Check out the
Elektra's mix but keep in mind she useds a lower grade indigo on
purpose. Kim A's mix is also closer to brown than mine turned out.

My next mix will probably be 55-60% indigo/40-45 % henna since I too
would like darker brown and less red, but not blue black. I think the
henna somehow weakens the indigo when mixed. My circumstance was
different because I did 100% henna followed by 50/50.

I do like the cooler redish tones more every day but was quite shocked
at first. Don't expect pure brown especially in the sun, the red
comes shining through. It does do a very nice job covering the greys.

If you do manage to get brown please post your secret.
