dyes beforehand. Quite a number of people have hennaed over
chemically dyed hair. With pure, good quality henna, you should be
fine. Make sure you strand test first, though.
Careful with the olive oil, by the way: I added too much to a strand
test and the stain didn't take. In the end I went for a teaspoon of
jojoba oil per 100g henna, put in just before hennaing, which seemed
to help with conditioning but not do any harm.
