I've just hennaed a friend of mine who was almost exactly the same - dark dirty blonde, inch of roots, only she'd dyed it copper (last dyeing was three months previously) and it had faded to strawberry blonde. She was after copper, and that's what she got. You should be fine, go and read up on different recipes and then start doing samples and strand tests. The one thing I'd recommend is to try to time it so that your roots have about the same depth of colour as the dyed parts. J's roots were darker as the dye had faded, and there is a slight difference with the henna on top, basically that the roots are still a little darker. It's barely noticeable and I reckon it'll have gone after another henna.
