Henna over foiled hair

I would love to try henna, but I've been foiling my hair for years.
It is to my back and also turning grey. I foil because I am a dark
blonde (almost light brown) color naturally. It hides the grey
fairly well. However, I know it is toxic and that part disturbs me.
