Anything to get the black out?

I have been using henna (natural mountain light)for a number of
years and love it. (usually auburn, though more recently mahogany.)
I am now in Italy and bought some "black" and YIKES to me, thanks
to this website, I think it must have been indigo. Although the
color is really beautiful, it did not cover my greying "sideburns"
(I started panicking so left it on for just 1/2 hour or so). Now I
see I definitely prefer the other colors. I miss the red and auburn
tones in my hair. Do I need to grow this out, or can I layer with
the previous preparations once I get home? Will that cover the
black!!!or at least make it more red? Any ideas? Thanks
