I have also looked at other websites on this subject as well. It all pretty much says the same thing. One thing about the indigo mixed with the henna is that you shouldn't use more than a 50/50 combination of henna to indigo unless you want a real "muddy" color tone. Also, that you should let each powder get its own dye release separately before you mix them. I still try different things. It depends basically on what color your own base color is to start with as to what you will get. You can get a better idea as to what your resulting color will be by looking at what other people start with, what they used in their mixes, and what they ended up with. That is on the mixes page here. But indigo can make your hair go darker real quick even if you mix it together with the henna. That is good if that is what you want. I find that it sticks to certain parts of my hair (namely widows peak, any hairs that contact face or body skin...I just figured that out by the way!) more than others. Maybe it (the indigo) is reacting to body oils, salts, sugars, etc. that is is in contact with on the skin aroung face and neck areas on me? So I don't use indigo much anymore as it gets too dark in the areas for my liking. But I just keep using henna and it covers these darker areas pretty well and blends in together. I guess I got the ideas from the mixes page then, to answer your question better. I went mostly by Kim in MI and Ellataria (sp?) but there are others as well. I think that maybe you could get an idea about the colors that it produces by messing around with a cheap watercolor set first using a base color or paper that is the closest to your hair color as possible. Or maybe messing around with some kind of paint program on your computer with the washes thingy. But I don't know how to do that though. Just go for it...as long as you are using body quality stuff recommended by others and do swatch tests you should be fine.
