I get a black cherry color, but since I have olive skin I use indigoand make the color a cool black. I do this to cover the sparse gray
hairs I have coming. They color a red/brown and look quit nice and
natural in the black. I use to dye my hair and I had no reaction
with the henna. It seems that most people don't, but you can always
do a strand test just to make sure -- and do use the body art
quality. It gives the best color results. The cheaper ones that I
have done experiments with have sand in them and do not dye as
intensly as the body art quality. They do dye but the color is more
brassy.
