Why does it turn some orange, and others this beautiful red color??

Does it depend on the origional hair color? I don't understand
because my hair is a med golden brown, and when I have used the body
grade henna it turns ORANGE! I want RED -- like Valeries! :(

I never use EO's -- could this be why?
