Henna is always red, sometimes it may be a little moreorange, or brown, but the difference in pure henna is so slight that's it's negligible (I've found). However, since it's a translucent dye, your own hair color (or skin color) is going to affect overall color of the henna once it's applied. Most of the things that can be added to henna to "push" the color toward a certain shade have subtle effects, since there aren't many things that can safely be added and will give permanent or semi-permanent color. In all truth two different hennas will not have the same exact color, but it will be almost exactly the same, just as two peaches from different places won't taste exactly the same, but they'll both taste like peaches.
