I have brown hair, with some gray. I tried to henna my: hair with a mix of henna and indigo by Henna Colora. I added hot : water and lemon juice to the mix, and left it for about 6 hours. Left : it on my hair for two hours. However, gray hair stayed gray. What did : I do wrong? Is there any way to cover gray with henna? YOu can definitely color gray with henna. I'm 20% gray, at least, and henna covers it beautifully. Over and over, people come in here disappointed with some henna mix they got off a shelf. Henna is a plant product, and it can go stale sitting on a shelf, and give you poor or no results. If you get body art quality henna from any supplier here, you have henna that was better quality to begin with, and it is guaranteed fresh. With body art quality henna, you've got more dye molecules to sink into your hair, so you're going to get better gray coverage. That's why people are getting better results working with body art quality henna. Its like the difference between a fresh home-made cookie and a 10 year old Twinkie. Other thing ........ the hot water is a bad idea. Use lemon juice or some other acidic liquid to get dye release, and don't heat it. Go back through the link below for the basics.
