I personally see no: problems with sodium lauryl sulfates. They are highly effective : detergents which is why some people find them very drying. I : personally prefer the ammonium lauryl sulfates as they seem less : drying to me. I have doubts that they are as dangerous as they have : been rumored to be. I agree that PPDs are unlikely to turn up in shampoo [what for?], and the SLS is in things, including toothpaste, most of us would never think about. Some shampoos actually suds up too much, and then you are forever getting them rinsed out, and have to remember just a tad will do the job. Others just do not get things clean - and I find this, sadly,to be true most of all in the so-called phosphate free, enzyme-powered laundry liquids or powders. Besides, should you leave a handwashing soaking overnight, there is a nasty smell and you have to start over - no idea why, as we bathe every day, are vegetarians, and the clothes, just things like knickers or bras, worn only once, didn't stink when they went into the wash. I'd hate to have some 'natural'shampoo product interact with my hair like that! One has to remember that urine and sweat are 'natural,' too...but I don't want to smell of them:)
