What was your ratio?Posted by DanielleN on September 11, 2004 at 18:39:22: In reply to: my experience posted by Kim in MI on September 10, 2004 at 11:22:45: I'm waiting for my henna to dye release before slopping it on mymom's head. She's finally agreed to let me henna her hair rather than poison herself every 6 weeks to cover the grays. She's at least 50% gray on top and its been about 2 mos since she's died it (about 1.5 inches of roots). Her natural color is dark brown. I have indigo too and was planning on a double process. I currently have 1.7 oz (50g) of henna (from Catherine) and 1 oz Black Walnut Hull powder mixed with lemon juice and lav. and TT EOs in a baggie waiting for dye release. I was going to do double process, but would rather do single process if I can. I'm trying to convince her to keep it on for about 5 hrs at this point, but she's not buying it ;-) So... back to my question... what was your final ratio that got the result you wanted? And how gray are you? Just sparse grays? TIA ~ danielle : I hennaed first, then when I had about 1/2" of roots showing (including a lot of gray) I : did a henna-indigo mix. I'm one of those mixes, "Kim A" -- I haven't tried to "even it : out" at all -- I reapplied to my whole head -- : : now I will say that the roots where the gray is are NOT as dark as the darker parts, : but it blends well, and I think it helps as my new roots grow out, more of a transition : zone than a sharp line of contrast, if that makes sense. : : I use an indigo/henna mix and I find that together the red is less deep and it is more : toned down, so my gray colors more of a medium brown, and the rest of my hair is a : dark auburn. I think it blends very well, and like I said above, gives a less harsh look : as it grows out than if all the gray was AS dark as the rest ... it's kind of like : highlights. : : Hope that makes some sense : Kim - happy with her dark auburn hair
