Meg,

I followed some of your advice and my hair looks great! My 80% grey
hair now matches the rest of my very dark brown hair. As you'll
see, the task to get the results was somewhat arduous, but I'm a
student and have time these days. Also, I have very stubborn,
thick, Irish wiry grey hair, and was thus very pleased to finally
get full coverage. After about 5 months of hennaing/indigoing, this
is the first time that I'm fully satisfied with the grey coverage.
Here's what I had to do to get it...

1. DAY 1: Catherine's henna mixed with equal parts coffee and lemon
juice. Applied to just shampooed/conditioned, wet hair. Left on
for 5 hours. 3 minute blasts of hot air from hairdryer every 30
minutes or so.

2. DAY 1: Catherine's indigo mixed with equal parts water and lemon
juice. Applied to hair directly after henna washed out. Left on
for 1.5 hours.
[This part was somewhat unpleasant--the indigo was extremely drippy].
3 minute blasts of hot air from hairdryer every 30 minutes or so.

3. DAY 2: Henna application same as in Step 1 EXCEPT applied to dry
hair this time.

4. DAY 3: Indigo application same as in Step 2 EXCEPT applied to dry
hair this time. Also, indigo left on for 3 hours this time.

TIP: As far as I can tell, indigo and henna work best for me when
applied to clean, dry hair. For those of you using indigo, you'll
find that, when applied to dry hair, your mixture is crumbly, but
not drippy. And for those of you in the know...drippy indigo is the
pits!!
