I've tried special effects..Posted by iris on September 14, 2004 at 20:54:20: In reply to: I know we've had a conversation on this before... posted by Alison on September 14, 2004 at 13:28:43: ..on the traffic light orange I used to get from henna (before I started mixing thehenna with cloves). I wanted to get it to a more 'true' red, so by the same reasoning as you, I decided to get a purplish red, figuring the blue in the purple would cancel out the orange, so I would end up with 'real' red (unnatural fire-engine red). the shade I used was called 'magenta'. turned out this special effects stuff is POWERFUL. it turned a colour that I can only describe as purple, indeed very close to the swatch they had in the store, just a bit darker maybe. anyhow the blue was definately very much there. since I didn't bleach before I used special effects at all, I imagine you don't have to worry too much about cancelling the traces of henna in your bleached hair. it will probably turn out vibrant enough. iris
