: Is henna safe for preggo mommas?
:
: I've henna'd a few pregnant bellies, but nothing too elaborate or
: intensive. I assume it's safe to henna a pregnant mom's hair too...
: does anyone know with any kind of certainty if it's safe? (Indigo
: and Cassia either??)

*As far as I've been able to find out* henna is absolutely safe for
hair for pregnant women. I've looked and looked, and read every last
medical paper I've been able to lay my hands on, and I don't see a
problem ..... doctors certainly tell women to stop using synthetic
hair dye during pregnancy!!!!

The only thing I wonder about is a potential problem if the woman's
unborn baby is a G6PD deficient male ...... whether sufficient Lawsone
could cross the skin to cause a problem. I've not seen anything one
way or another. If there is a problem there, nobody's ever published
on it. There may be no problem whatsoever.

Indigo: there are strains of wild indigo that are toxic when ingested
by animals. The indigo I sell ia different species, and you're not
eating it.

Cassia: never found any papers indicating one thing or another.

If these 3 were a problem for pregnancy .... seems there would be some
thing observed somewhere or other, because women have used these
across North Africa, the Middle East and South Asia for so long.
