More questions for Catherine and the group...

...I do hope I am not being a pest about this, but now I am wondering
if the reaction I got, when water hit my lemon-juice/henna mix, could
be an acid-base abreaction, if the water here is that hard. How does
one determine the ph of water [if that is the correct term], and
could it happen? You'd think there would have been irritation of some
kind whilstthe mix was actually on my head, not when I went to remove
it...?
Secondly, I have read about 'terping' one's mix here, but it seems to
me that the directions usually refer to obtaining a darker stain.
What terps ought one to use to maximise the redness on hair? - that
is, not to have it come out browner or darker.
