Henna in Conditioner?

Hello,

I'm thinking about hennaeing my hair soon, but I have a question.
Henna is sold at my local pharmacy, but I'm not sure if I can trust
it. The directions on the bottle said I could mix a capful of henna
with my regular conditioner and the result would be natural red
highlights. Is this true? If I do decide to henna my hair, I will
want to use body art quality henna, but I've never heard of being
able to mix it with conditioner. Any advice would be helpful,
considering I'd rather not kill my hair with some weird chemical
reaction.
