Mind you, there is some perfectly good henna out there where the
instructions listed are ridiculous but the actual contents of the box
are fine.

What are the ingredients, and what else is on that bottle? It should
be pure lawsonia inermis, nothing else, no claims that it dyes your
hair a colour other than red, and it should have a best before date
that is in the future.

As for conditioner, have a look at Fia's page linked on the Mixes
page, she talks about using a bit of henna in conditioner, she calls
it a "henna gloss".
