I've been adding a little more indigo each time ... the first time, with just a littke (1/4
cup) indigo mine was a "cooler" red but definitely still more brassy/orange than not.
the second time I added closer to 1/2 indigo was noticably cooler, and the third (50/
50) I was very pleased with. I would call mine a dark cherry brown, but out in the
sunlight it is still a firey red ... I would not say mine looks purple at all. I do think it's
a nice, cool, natural looking color. Dark brown inside, brighter red outside.

So I *do* think indigo "cools" the red and makes it better for people needing cool
tones, makes it more of a cool auburn than a bright copper. But I still wouldn't call
mine purplish at all, and I'm adding a lot more indigo than you suggested.
