my book saysPosted by Kim in MI on October 9, 2004 at 18:28:47: In reply to: Question about EOs... posted by JennyK on October 7, 2004 at 13:59:50: : I've been using lavender EO in my henna mix and I love how it makes: my hair smell....now that I'm pregnant again, is it safe to use EO in : my mix? One of the main reasons I first switched to henna was : because it was safe to use while pregnant. I just want to make sure : the rest of my mix is safe, too.... I just used lavender today, didn't even think about being pregnant. Ooops! But my book (Naturally Healthy Pregnancy by Shonda Parker) says that the essential oils to be avoided *internally* during pregnancy are rosemary and thyme. She does not mention lavender at all in her discussion of emmenagogues. She certainly is knowledgeable enough that if there was strong evidence of a problem, I think she would know of it ... She does on other things make a distinction between external use and internal, that most of the research has been on taking herbal things internally at high doses ... my personal opinion is a little in your henna or bath water or whatever will not be harmful, but of course you need to make your own wise decisions. :) Kim
