Re: Want auburn, not dark brownish/burgundyPosted by Alison on October 10, 2004 at 00:04:07: In reply to: Want auburn, not dark brownish/burgundy posted by Rita on October 9, 2004 at 19:06:52: : I welcome help from everyone on this. I recently used the Jamila: quality henna, and I used the following mix... 100gm henna, 1 cup : fresh lemon juice, 1 cup hot water, 1 tbs red wine, 8 drops tea tree : and lavender essential oils. I mixed it, and let it sit overnight for : dye release. Then applied and left on 4 hours. I wanted my hair to : look like "Andy's" hair in the "Mix" section. My hair is naturally : dark brown, and I was wanting beautiful auburn results. Instead, I : got even darker hair with a burgundyish tinge to it in the sunlight. : It's such a dark color. Did turping cause the darker shade? Hair : looks healthy and shiny, but in my next henna application, would : beetroot powder help bring about more red, for auburn results? I : just want a color change from brown to auburn. You can't get lighter than what you started with with henna, so if you were hoping for auburn from dark brown I don't think it would work. Terping doesn't generally do anything to henna on hair, since there is so much of it. Beetroot might make it more red, but more kool-ade-red, less natural red/auburn.
