First time!!Posted by Sherry on October 31, 2004 at 10:02:59: Hi =)First of all, I want to thank you all for your great tips. You gave me the courage to try henna. I have blonde hair with red highlights naturally, but I've always wanted red, red hair. So I started using permanent haircolor. I've never been too happy with the results. It did make my hair red, but the first few days, there was always a purplish tint(not flattering with my warm skin tones). The purple would fade away, and then so would my color until a month or so later it would be back to strawberry blonde. Once a month is too often to color, especially for my naturally curly, rather fragile hair. So I would have to put up with it for several weeks. So I decided to try henna. I read everything I could find on it. I ordered fresh, body art quality henna. I tested on harvested hair (since my hair had been colored with Colorsilk about a month before) and got a lovely copper color. So I mixed my henna with lemon juice 24 hours ahead and smooshed it on in the morning. On with the plastic cap and a little mob cap I made to wear over my curlers. I left it on about seven hours. Then I got in the shower and rinsed and rinsed, got out and noticed orange dripping from my hair and got back in and rinsed and rinsed. My hair is a lovely copper!! Not a hint of purple. Now I just hope it stays better.
