as far as I understand it, the thing is that henna oxydizes; it starts out bright orange/
red, and then as it reacts with oxygen, it becomes brown. I don't know the chemical
specifics, and I hope someone will correct me if I'm wrong...

in any case, it gets browner and less orange after a couple of days. if your natural hair
color is brown, it will look like it has faded, but it has just changed color to a color
that is close to your own color.

I don't know what you could do to keep it red - keeping your hair in an air-tight
container would not be an option... ;-)

I think the only difference between 'good' and 'bad' henna is that good henna
deposits more dye. I'd be surprised if it'd stay red longer.
