: I usually dye my hair with Colora black henna, which I think is pure
: indigo. At least it looks like it.
:
: Anyway, I thought I would treat myself and go with the double
process
: method as suggested on here by Catheirne. Well, I did henna for the
: first time. I bought regular henna and indigo from the health food
: store. I am pretty sure they were organic. I proceeded in using
hot
: water and lemon juice and mixing up the henna. I was even curious
: about what I would look like with red hair. I was hoping it would
: turn a nice red red (no orange) like Tracey's hair on the mixes
page.
: I thought that if that happened I might just henna and not indigo.
:
: Well, I let it release dye for like two hours. I know some people
: leave it overnight, but this stuff stained my hands orange when I
: touched it, so I figured it had released. I left it on my head for
: two hours. Well, my scalp dyed the color of an orange popsickle and
: the hair itself (the roots that were not indigoed) turned a bright
: copper. I was quite surprised as my hair is not blonde by any
means,
: more a medium brown.
:
: The color was so atrocious that I proceeded with indigo and have it
on
: my head at this very moment.
:
: My question, I guess, in writing all this is WHY do some people's
hair
: turn orange and some people's turn a nice red red like Tracey and
: others on the mixes page?

Your hair turned orange because you bought henna from the health food
store. Organic doesn't matter a tiny bit when it comes to this
because nearly ALL henna is organic. You want FRESH, not stale, and
what you got from the health food store is almost guarenteed to be
stale. I do not hold much hope that the quality of the indigo will
be much better.

Also, you wouldn't have been a red-head except for the roots anyway.
I'd reccomend a) stop using Colora mess and b) getting henna and
indigo from reputable suppliers as on this site.
